This is a sweet little addon for Firefox that allows you to post right to your blog without being IN your blog. All you need to do is to install the addon and configure it to post to your blog. That’s it.
Another thing I like about it so far is that you can be viewing one web page that you find interesting and click the ScribeFire icon to begin blogging about it right then and there. No leaving the original page, no going back and forth to read more information, just a nice horizontal split screen that you can view the page and the post at the same time. Just like I’m doing right now.
ScribeFire also pulls all of your catagories, entries (posts), pages and allows you to select which catagory to post to or what entry to edit. You can add pictures, video, Flikr images, YouTube videos, hyperlinks, formatting…just like in your blogging software online.
They even offer an ad service to incorporate ads into your blog if you want. I’m more into keeping mine clean of any ads but if that’s something you’re interested in doing, then they offer a way to do that too.
I’m going to give it a try and see how well I like posting from ScribeFire over logging into my site here and just save the logging in stuff for checking on updates, comments, plugins and other administrative chores.
One last thing about ScribeFire….it’s platform independent. That means you can use it on a Linux distro, a Mac or even (ugh) a Windows machine.

For a new monitor that is. I’m looking for at least a 22″ flat screen LCD that jumps out at you. In other words, great resolution, glossy screen (glare is a non-issue) no need for peripheral jacks as those are covered by the Lenovo H210 itself. Price range should be in the $200 - $250 range and manufacturer is a toss-up.
I’ve been looking online and in print and am getting more confused instead of getting a better idea of what I’m looking for. So, if any of you out there are running a 22″ flat screen LCD, please let me know what you’re using and how well you like it. Performance issues welcome too.
It will be going on my Lenovo H210 running 2 different distros of Linux with an Intel 82G33/G31 Integrated Graphics card. The CPU (if this info is needed) is an Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz.
So, let’s hear it from those of you running a 22. I need input!
Update December 28, 2008 -
Picked up a Samsung SyncMaster T220 22″ monitor from Best Buy yesterday for around $279 + tax that looks great and no back light leaking issues either that have been reported about this monitor. This monitor looked great before I even turned it on!
I’ll post about this soon. Err, how about now?

I was cleaning up around my desk and office this morning and discovered my Ipod laying on a shelf. I had forgotten all about it as I usually listen to either Last.fm or one of the music channels on Direct TV. It was given to me one Christmas I believe when I was going to the gym on a regular basis. (Note to self: go back to gym, dummy!)
Anyway, I saw that the device had run down power-wise so I just plugged it up to one of my USB ports to charge it back up. I could use it again while running walking on my treadmill. Seeing as the cheapo stereo I had in the garage barely picked up any decent classic rock stations, the Ipod would come in handy.
After plugging it in, Rhythmbox opens on the Ubuntu desktop with all my songs/artists/playlists intact from the Ipod. Cool, I said to myself. (Note to self: don’t try answering back) I selected Shuffle, clicked on a song from Matchbox Twenty and then clicked play. Wow! This is nice.
The whole time I’m listening, the Ipod is charging back up, I’m watching for new Tweets from my friends using Twitux and Pidgin is running off to the right keeping me up to date with my friends in real time. Not to mention, writing this post.
And they say that Linux isn’t ready for prime time. I think that if you spent the time getting to know Windows, you can spend the time to get to know Linux. Then where would the argument go from there? I’m sure the Windows fanboys would come up with something.
Until then, I’m going to enjoy listening to/charging my Ipod via Rhythmbox on my Ubuntu Linux desktop. Oh yeah, Brian Adams/Summer of ‘69…….takes me back.
*Side note: I run a dual-boot set up with Ubuntu 8.10 and Fedora Core 10 on my Lenovo H210. I just happened to be booted into Ubuntu during this post. I’m sure that Fedora would do the same as Ubuntu in this scenario. I also don’t favor one over the other. The booting of one or the other is a random event.

To be honest, I wasn’t really quite sure what to expect. Outside of the well-known quality and workmanship, I had no clue as to how well this machine might perform, whether the peripherals would play nicely with my proposed dual-booting of Fedora Core 10 and Ubuntu 8.10 or even if the graphics card or any of the rest of the machine’s hardware would have issues.
Now, before anyone suggests I bought a pig in a poke, no, I did not. I did cross reference the machine’s hardware with Ubuntu’s list as well as other sources. I came to the conclusion that the Lenovo H210 should be a good candidate. As we all know by now, should be and reality sometimes aren’t in the same realm when it comes to installing Linux. more…

Got this little fella in one of those forwarded emails that seem to circulate all across the ‘net lately. I don’t know who created the little guy but he’s sure cool looking. Kudos to the original artist whoever you are!
Sure wish I could draw like that.
