Ever come across a phrase or a web page that was in a different language and didn’t have a clue what was being said? Well, this neat feature hosted courtesy of AltaVista will help translate from many different languages into English plus translate back so you can communicate with the person in their language as well. This comes in handy on several message boards where there are many frequent visitors from other countries.
Give it a try to see how well it works at: http://world.altavista.com/

Saw where a friend of mine had posted a wallpaper he liked so I figured I’d do the same with one I found at Gnome-Look.org that I found to be really soothing as a backdrop on my Ubuntu desktop.

You can find more at Gnome-Look.org or Ubuntu-Art.org and I’ll tell you one thing….it sure beats that windows flag hands down!

Found this great page for looking up colors and their respective codes for those web applications we all use from time to time. Real nifty for that budding webmaster in all of us!

It’s called the 4096 Color Wheel and it’s easy to use. Just hover your mouse’s cursor over the wheel somewhere and the color will be displayed below with these three perspectives:
- Web-Safe
- Web-Smart
- Unsafe
Hover over the square to change saturation (left to right) and value (bottom to top) of the last hue.
Use the keyboard to rotate hue:
j rotates slowly counterclockwise,
k rotates quickly clockwise, and
l rotates slowly clockwise.
Jump to a primary or secondary color: red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, or yellow. The enter key will also add the current color to the pick list.
Just what we need for those quicky checks for color codes, shades and blends for our sites.
