Seems all of a sudden that Twitter and BlogCatalog have been real slow loading which in turn was keeping the site from loading as it should. I removed them both for the time being and things have returned to normal as far as loading times are concerned.
Anyone else having issues with Twitter or BlogCatalog in their blogs sidebars?

I don’t know about Twitter, but ever since Wordpress.com upgraded their site, things have been going haywire.

It’s unlikely that both BC and twitter became slow at the same time. You may want to test to see which one caused your page to load slower by removing only one at a time.

That’s true Antony. Thing is, I first removed the Twitter Widget and it only slightly showed an increase in load time. When I removed the BlogCatalog widget, it then loaded faster.
An odd coincidence maybe but when I get some spare time I’ll try reactivating them again one at a time and see how things go from there.
As we all know, the more plugins/widgets one has installed on their blogs can lead to slow loading due to the 3rd party scripts dialing home.

Hmm, added BlogCatalog back to the mix along with a feed from The How To Geek. Load times are back to “normal” again.
